Rubber Paving is a very durable product. The first rubber paved driveway (photo taken May 31, 2014) was installed by Shercom in Saskatoon in 1998 and still looks as good as the day it was poured. Even in the harshest of Canadian winters Shercom's Rubber Paving will provide many trouble free years.
No, most common automotive chemicals will have no effect on the rubber paving. Brake cleaner and brake fluid are the only common automotive chemical that will damage rubber paving.
In the unlikely event that the rubber paving does get damaged it can easily be repaired by simply cutting out the damaged section and reapplying new rubber.
All of our rubber paving is hand installed to ensure a top quality installation. We can complete most projects in one day and the rubber takes a mere 24 hours to fully cure, making your driveway, garage, deck or sidewalk fully usable in only 2 days! That makes rubber paving much quicker to install than concrete, asphalt or most other products. Large projects exceeding 1000 square feet in size take slightly longer depending on the size as we can generally install 1000 sqft of rubber per day.
NO. The rubber paving is all installed by hand and our equipment is minimally intrusive to your yard. We use a small mixer, wheelbarrows and hand tool so we leave your yard looking better than we found it!
Rubber Paving is very durable. Snow shovels and snow blowers will not damage your rubber paving and any snow or ice is easily removed from the hydrophobic rubber. Salt or ice melt products will also have no effect on the rubber, unlike concrete which is harmed by salt. Additionally the rubber paving surface maintains its superior grip properties even when frozen to help prevent slips and falls.
Generally a simple sweep will keep your rubber paving clean, but for stubborn spots a garden hose or light pressure wash works very well. A mild soap or detergent like dish detergent or car wash soap works very well for any oil spills.
